Elisabetta was born to Cesare, an Italian literature teacher and father Bruna, a radiologist in Sassari's University clinic. Elisabetta has a brother named Luigi. Soon after finishing her high school studies at 'Azuni' Classical High School in Sassari, Elisabetta Canalis went to Milan to study foreign languages at "Universita Statale". While in Milan, Elisabetta Canalis auditioned for the role in one of the most popular television shows "Striscia la notizia" in 1999 and had bagged the role of 'Velina', a show girl. Elisabetta has appeared for three seasons on the show until 2002 and became a household name in Italy.
